# The opportunity

As mentioned in the first chapter, gaming skins could be considered one of the first old-school iterations of NFTs, in the sense that they are tradeable digital art pieces that have a community and carry value within an ecosystem. However, these skins were hosted on centralized servers and were often limited to their ecosystem. 

Wega draws huge inspiration from the skins betting market and uses NFTs instead of skins for betting. Wega sees the opportunity to pave a modern pathway by building on this credible business model - all while unleashing the true potential of NFTs.

Furthermore, NFTs are distinctive from art in their ability to generate fungible characteristics from digital assets through efficient market-making structures. This forms the basis for advancing toward NFTs as a more liquid asset and creates utilization beyond the realms of art.
